BrainStation is committed to eliminating barriers and empowering individuals to achieve success in the digital world. To promote and celebrate diversity and inclusion in technology, BrainStation and the Vancouver UX Awards are excited to offer two scholarships to First Nations Technology Council students who have completed a BrainStation program this year. The 2020 scholarships will bring mentorship, community connection, and networking opportunities to the students as they enter and gain experience in the UX industry.

We spoke with Kyle Treleaven, VP and General Manager at BrainStation, to learn a little bit more about what this year has looked like for BrainStation, and what he’s looking forward to.

Kyle, can you tell us about your organization and its background?

BrainStation is the global leader in digital skills training and workforce transformation, with corporate training, award-winning bootcamps and certificate courses, industry-leading online events, and more, both online and at state-of-the-art campuses in cities such as New York, London, Toronto, and Vancouver. Established in 2012, BrainStation works with over 450 industry leaders from the most innovative companies, developing cutting-edge digital education that has empowered more than 100,000 professionals and some of the largest corporations in the world, including Hootsuite, Amazon, Tesla, Microsoft, Google, Johnson & Johnson, and Telus, among others.

What has been an interesting part of this year for your organization? What are you looking forward to?

With COVID-19, entire industries have been forced to adopt new digital platforms and channels, which has accelerated the global digital skills gap.

One of the results has been a 350% surge in demand for our online bootcamps and courses, with professionals across North America and Europe looking to learn job-ready software digital skills. To meet that demand, we launched over 30 new online courses and introduced online by-weekly panel discussions with industry leaders, both of which we continue to offer.

We have offered online courses and bootcamps for years now, but we believe that more learning will be happening online now, in both the short- and long-term future.

And, can you tell us why are you excited to be part of the Vancouver UX Awards?

BrainStation has been at the forefront of creating the next generation of User Experience Designers for the past few years, training professionals through our Certificate Courses and UX Design Bootcamp. Vancouver UX Awards puts together an absolutely incredible event, year over year, recognizing the amazing UX design talent in Vancouver. We are proud to support this event and the growing UX design community while creating opportunities for those looking to pursue design as a career.
